Greenwich Village is among Manhattan's most desirable and expensive residential neighborhoods. It's history, however, betrays it's monied status. The Village, with it's quiet, shaded streets, lined with lovely brick and brownstone townhouses, was once the incubating ground of artistic, social and political movements that have helped shape US history. From the Beats to the Folk Movement, from workers rights to gay rights, the Village has often been the center of it all.

Arguably the world's most valuable, busiest and most crowded pieces of real estate, Midtown Manhattan is what most visitors think of when they think of New York City. Home to some of the city's most iconic architecture, from Gothic to Post-Modern and from Beaux-Arts to Art Deco (lots of Art Deco). it's not difficult to understand why. But just behind the massive facades, lie facinating histories just waiting to be unveiled.

New York City is a mecca for graffiti and street art, making it a very attractive playground for artists from around the world. Bushwick, in a working class district on the north side of Brooklyn adjacent to Williamsburg, has been attracting artists for some time now. The neighborhood has a fair collection of art studios and galleries, but it’s Bushwick’s industrial landscape that’s attracting the street artist. If you came looking for 1960′s Greenwich Village, you’ll find something brewing in Bushwick. Tour takes place Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Born in the Windy City, a green yet uncannily talented Mavis Staples would join the family gospel group, The Staple Singers, at the tender age of 11. After recording two blowout #1 singles in the ‘70s, “I’ll Take You There” and “Let’s Do It Again,” Mavis fully began her illustrious solo career. Prince would provide direction over two of her most acclaimed albums, Time Waits for No One and The Voice. Toshi Reagon is a talented, versatile singer, composer, musician, curator and producer with a profound ear for sonic Americana– from folk to funk, from blues to rock. While her expansive career has landed her comfortably in residence at Carnegie Hall, the Paris Opera House and Madison Square Garden, you can just as easily find Toshi turning out a music festival, intimate venue or local club.

Ghost stories reflect uncertain times. Lauren Hartke, an artist whose work crosses the limits of the body, lives on a lonely coast in a rambling rented house. She encounters a strange, ageless man with uncanny knowledge of her own life. Together they begin a journey into a spare, seductive outpost of time, love, and human perception.

Rome’s leader, Julius Caesar, is a force unlike any the city has seen. Magnetic, populist, irreverent, he seems bent on absolute power. A small band of patriots, devoted to the country’s democratic traditions, must decide how to oppose him. Shakespeare’s political masterpiece has never felt more contemporary.Runs May 23-28, May 30-June 3, June 6-13 and June 15-18.
