Few, however, think of it as the largest and longest art gallery on the planet. Well, they don't know what they are missing. This lively walking AND subway riding tour visits over a dozen subway stations to experience a selection of these striking often whimsical works that go largely unnoticed by the general public. Join this climate controlled subway and walking art tour. Along the way you'll learn about and become expert at navigating the (in)famous NYC subway system. There's also the invaluable opportunity to confer about your other sightseeing plans with the acclaimed Bronx born, vastly experienced licensed NYC tour guide, Darryl Reilly. Beautiful Boy investigates a visual language of femininity that is deeply embedded in the DNA of our cultural perceptions. The earliest photographs mine the history of 20th-century film, photography, and painting. However, as the project evolved, the images began to flood over boundaries of scripts and sets, and reveal individual experiences of gender, desire, and cultural taboo.

Over is both the title of Sidsel Meineche Hansen’s exhibition and an augmented reality app that will be launched as part of the show. A series of wall-mounted hollow-eyed sculptures resembling emoticons, wax cast in silicon metal, function as trigger-objects for the app. A superimposed layer of animation, activated through a smartphone camera, narrates a short recorded script read by an anonymous A.I. robot, which discusses its own exploitation in the tech industry.

Baseball in the 1920’s is most known for Babe Ruth and the New York Yankees, but there was another great Yankees player in that era whose compelling story remains untold. Urban Shocker was a fiercely competitive and colorful pitcher. With the 1927 Yankees, widely viewed to be the best team in Major League Baseball history, Shocker pitched with guts and guile, finishing with a record of 18‑6 even while his fastball and physical skills were deserting him.

This lecture will discuss self-compassion as it is taught in the Stanford Medical School’s compassion curriculum and present practical ways to develop the skill of self-compassion.This lecture is a free introduction to the full eight-week compassion course.  With: Elizabeth Pyjov.
