Talk | Make Great Decisions. Embrace Uncertainty.

Our business and our personal lives are marked by a stream of decisions. Some are small. Some are large. Some are life-altering or strategic. Few things are as valuable in business, and in life, as the ability to make good decisions. Can you imagine how much more rewarding your life and your business would be if every decision you made were the best it could be? Dr. Carl Spetzler is a leader in the field of decision science and has worked with organizations across industries to improve their decision-making capabilities. He co-authored Decision Quality: Value Creation for Better Business Decisions and he will show you how to frame a problem or opportunity, create a set of attractive alternatives, identify relevant uncertain information, clarify the values that are important in the decision, apply tools of analysis, and develop buy-in among stakeholders. His straightforward approach is elegantly simple, yet practical and powerful – and it can be applied to all types of decisions.

Play | Hudson Warehouse presents Aristophanes' Lysistrata

Originally performed in classical Athens in 411 BC, Aristophanes' Lysistrata is a comic account of one woman's extraordinary mission to end the Peloponnesian War. Lysistrata persuades the women of Greece to withhold sexual privileges from their husbands and lovers as a means of forcing the men to negotiate peace—a strategy, however, that inflames the battle between the sexes. The play is notable for being an early exposé of sexual relations in a male-dominated society. This outdoor production, subtitled "Let's Make America Great Again," is adapted and directed by Susane Lee. June 30-July 24, Thursday through Sunday nights.

Dance Performance | Choreographer/dancer Maria Hassabi performs Movement #2

Hassabi’s performance will act as an informal preview for the completed workSTAGED, which will premiere at The Kitchen in October 2016 as part of the French Institute Alliance Française’s Crossing the Line Festival. Hassabi presents a new composition for four dancers, Simon Courchel, Hristoula Harakas, Molly Lieber, and Oisín Monaghan. The artist imagines the work as four concurrent solo performances, rather than as a single, cohesive composition, and underscores this fragmented presentation by separating the dancers over numerous blocks of the park. Thus, viewers encounter each dancer in sequence, connecting their movements through imagination rather than vision. In this way, the performance is necessarily experienced in motion, as visitors move from one end of the park to the other. Takes place June 28-30.

Staged Reading | Play Reading: Maspeth

Help close out Gay Pride Month with a reading of Marco Calvani’s drama Maspeth. The reading is directed by Shira-Lee Shalit, with a cast that includes Christina Toth, Evgeniya Radilova and Alexander Hodge. Joe Dolce, former editor in chief of Details and Star magazines and journalist for many of the world’s leading publications, including The New York Times, is hosting a Talk Back session after the production. Maspeth is an exploration of the need to belong in this world, this life, and to ourselves. With echoes of the Matthew Shepard murder and the Orlando massacre, the play raises important questions about the current condition of the LGBT cause in the United States. Gay rights may have been advancing at a rapid clip in the last few years, but has that really lessened homophobia? Or has it actually made it worse?
