Greenwich Village is among Manhattan's most desirable and expensive residential neighborhoods. It's history, however, betrays it's monied status. The Village, with it's quiet, shaded streets, lined with lovely brick and brownstone townhouses, was once the incubating ground of artistic, social and political movements that have helped shape US history. From the Beats to the Folk Movement, from workers rights to gay rights, the Village has often been the center of it all. Tours are Mondays and Fridays at 2pm, and Wednesdays and Saturdays at 10am.

Play | Hudson Warehouse presents Aristophanes' Lysistrata

Originally performed in classical Athens in 411 BC, Aristophanes' Lysistrata is a comic account of one woman's extraordinary mission to end the Peloponnesian War. Lysistrata persuades the women of Greece to withhold sexual privileges from their husbands and lovers as a means of forcing the men to negotiate peace—a strategy, however, that inflames the battle between the sexes. The play is notable for being an early exposé of sexual relations in a male-dominated society. This outdoor production, subtitled "Let's Make America Great Again," is adapted and directed by Susane Lee. June 30-July 24, Thursday through Sunday nights.

Lynn is a rare triple threat, famous for her distinctive left-handed rhythm guitar, smoldering vocals, and vast well of original songs, including her biggest hit “You’ll Lose a Good Thing.” Tonight, this true musical pioneer illuminates six decades of American music.

In the 7th year of the Trojan War, Troilus, a young prince, pines for the affections of Cressida, a bright young woman who knows how to play it cool. Meanwhile, the heroes of the Iliad – Ajax, Ulysses, Achilles and the kings they serve - debate whether to return the dangerously beautiful captive Helen or continue to fight without end. Concert | The Sandcatchers, a Musical Blend of Middle Eastern and Americana Sounds

The Sandcatchers was formed in the corner of Cheryl’s, a soul food restaurant on the corner of Underhill Avenue and Eastern Parkway in Brooklyn. Given the opportunity for a weekly gig, oud player and guitarist Yoshie Fruchter brought in his friends Myk Freedman on lap steel, Michael Bates on double bass, and Yonadav Halevy on percussion to see what kind of music they could make together. Over the course of many weeks, a fresh sound was created blending the Middle Eastern trope of the oud with the dreamy, Americana-infused textures of the steel, and a new project was born. Featuring original music by Fruchter inspired both by Middle Eastern maqam and the Appalachian trail, Sandcatchers is a beautiful collaboration of sound and souls.
