You can take at least 13 free tours every day of the year, except the New Year Day, July 4th, and the Christmas Day. See how the conservancy has restored this native woodland garden for birds and other wildlife. The wood-chipped trail is uneven; please wear appropriate shoes. Internationally recognized speaker and author Karen Kaplan will share the story of her father, Arie Kaplan, who survived the Holocaust in the forests of Eastern Europe. Her story is one of forgiveness and letting go of the legacy of bitterness and angst that has hovered over the Jewish community following centuries of anti- Semitism. The author will present her book in Germany, August 2016 at a physician’s conference titled: Refugees, Trauma and Reconciliation. Kaplan shares her story with the author Robin Hirsch, whose own experiences growing up in London in the shadow of the war set off a career of writing, acting, and teaching, including the publishing of his memoir, “Last Dance at the Hotel Kempinski.”
