Another example of an event that you can attend all year round on weekdays is Federal Reserve Bank Tour, which takes place every week day at 1 pm (but advanced reservations are required). You can take at least 13 free tours every day of the year, except the New Year Day, July 4th, and the Christmas Day. Tour | Hudson River Nature Walk


Learn about the park’s wildlife by joining experienced naturalists on guided nature walks along the park’s esplanade. Enjoy a meandering waterfront walk while viewing and learning about the park’s flora and fauna, including some of the 85 different species of birds identified within Park boundaries. Peek into some of our many gardens to discover butterflies, dragonflies and other interesting insects. Get to know the native plants that thrive in unexpected places in and around the river’s edge. Each nature walk is unique and offers a one-of-a-kind treasure hunt-like experience. Please wear comfortable shoes and dress appropriately for the weather. This is a 3-hour tour that begins with a walk over the Brooklyn Bridge, an icon of New York City for over 125 years, with spectacular views of Manhattan and Brooklyn. Workshop | Kayak Polo


They’ve got the equipment (kayaks, vests, helmets, paddles), you bring the body, enthusiasm, and sportsmanship (shorts/sandals, too). Your level of experience doesn’t matter. They are limited to 15 participants per game, so reserve your spot for the game at 11AM. They’ll put you in a team and give you a vest number on a first-come first-served basis. Dedicated players and volunteers, though, will end up being teachers to others. They focus on individual attention and kayak mentoring, and offer the best free kayak learning experience you can get in NYC. Please arrive at least 30 minutes before game time to be donned with vest, helmet, paddle, and kayak.

Other | Nature Sanctuary Open Hours


During these limited hours, visitors can explore the normally closed sanctuary at their own pace along the rustic trail. See how the conservancy has restored this native woodland garden for birds and other wildlife. The wood-chipped trail is uneven; please wear appropriate shoes. This ecosystem is a protected area and home to many flora and fauna. No groups, dogs, bikes, or strollers. Free and self-guided. Space is limited.

They would expand their movement vocabulary by studying and learning a myriad of new dance disciplines and techniques.

Concert | Los Soneros de Oriente, Cuban Salsa Group


Los Soneros de Oriente is a New York city-based group specializing in the Cuban Són – a folk style that forms much of the basis for modern salsa - for more than 30 years. The music, rooted in African-based rhythms and tunes performed on Cuban folk instruments, began in the 1880's, in the Oriente Province. When workers migrated to the cities, they incorporated Spanish influences to create a unique Cuban music using harmony vocals, percussion, trumpets, piano, bass, and guitars, that soon became the most popular music of not only the working classes, but of Cubans on all levels of society. Los Soneros de Oriente brings with delight traditional Cuban music, a treasure that remains pulsing through you long after the show.

Manhattan Shakespeare Project is back with a very personal piece created in part with NYC’s young Muslim high school women. Through personal accounts written by Muslim girls and Shakespeare’s text of Othello, Al’ukhraa explores how our opinions of “the other” effect the community as a whole, and how the current political climate of fear is directly impacting our NYC high school girls. Originally performed in classical Athens in 411 BC, Aristophanes' Lysistrata is a comic account of one woman's extraordinary mission to end the Peloponnesian War. Lysistrata persuades the women of Greece to withhold sexual privileges from their husbands and lovers as a means of forcing the men to negotiate peace—a strategy, however, that inflames the battle between the sexes. The play is notable for being an early exposé of sexual relations in a male-dominated society. This outdoor production, subtitled "Let's Make America Great Again," is adapted and directed by Susane Lee. June 30-July 24, Thursday through Sunday nights.

On this tour you’ll hear tales of the strange eccentric who lived below the tracks and saved them from demise, the curse of a West Side Cowboy who fell to his death from the elevated track, and the children who haunt the street formerly known as Death Avenue.
