Tour | Midtown Manhattan Tour

Arguably the world's most valuable, busiest and most crowded pieces of real estate, Midtown Manhattan is what most visitors think of when they think of New York City. Home to some of the city's most iconic architecture, from Gothic to Post-Modern and from Beaux-Arts to Art Deco (lots of Art Deco). It's not difficult to understand why. But just behind the massive facades, lie facinating histories just waiting to be unveiled.

Concert | Tin Pan Alley Revisited with The Juilliard School Jazz Division

Put a little swing in your summer with the students and alumni of The Juilliard School Jazz division! Celebrate the giants of jazz with the upbeat tunes of the Great American Song Book and other cool jazz standards. Popular song as we know it today would not exist without Tin Pan Alley, a stretch of buildings in what is now the NoMad district of Manhattan. It was there that George Gershwin, Hoagy Carmichael, Fats Waller, Cole Porter, and many of the greats of songwriting wrote and published their works. These compositions have been interpreted by masters of jazz and popular music and helped to lay the groundwork for the art form of jazz as has it as evolved and grown over the years. This set of music will pay tribute to the masters of The Great American Songbook and the area of New York City that they once dominated. Alex Wintz – Guitar; Nick Finzer – Trombone; Dave Baron – Bass

Staged Reading | Play Reading: Committed

Written by Natalie Menna. Committed is a work of historical fiction about the last two days of Dutch filmmaker Theo Van Gogh’s life before his murder. When his highly controversial and vulgar documentary - intended to portray the abuse of women under extreme Islam - causes a tremendous uproar in Amsterdam and abroad, Theo spirals rapidly downward. The play explores the collision of an artist’s radical temperament and unyielding vision with modern political realities and the inevitable tragedy when uncompromising values clash. Can friendship, family, or love save Theo from his biggest threat– himself?
