Classical Music Suggestions for April

It's April...finally, and spring...hopefully. With the budding crocuses comes a plethora of great live music all around New York City. We're in the thick of the season, and the next few weeks' offerings are especially rich in vocal groups and pianists.
Choral performances not to be missed this month are the early music masters, Tallis Scholars at Church of St. Mary the Virgin (aka "Smokey Mary's") on April 5th, Calmus performing motets and more at The New School on the 6th (part of the superbly-priced Schneider series), and Pomerium performing Eastertide Renaissance choral music at the Cloisters on April 19. The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and Chorus fill the stage at Carnegie on April 30, for what is sure to be a stunning performance of Britten's War Requiem.
At the keyboard, the incomparable Mitsuko Uchida is at Carnegie on April 9, Jeremy Denk appears on April 12 at Washington Irving High School (presented by People's Symphony, another bargain-priced series), Stephen Hough at Alice Tully Hall on the 13th, and Jenny Lin gives a free performance at David Rubenstein Atrium at Lincoln Center on the 24th.
Off the beaten track, the ever-adventurous JACK Quartet curates a week's worth of concerts at The Stone (April 1-6), the Metropolis Ensemble holds forth at (Le) Poisson Rouge with a program of premieres on April 6 and 7, and Young Concert Artists presents 21 year-old cellist Cicely Parnas at Merkin Concert Hall on April 23.
